Caboolture Hub’s Summer Family Fun Day was a raging success for children of all ages over the school holidays – and the good news is there are three more seasonal events to come!
Moreton Bay Regional Council put on a host of free activities including: hands-on art workshops, a crafty school book covering station, calico bag embroidery circle, Birds of Prey demonstration, Minecraft challenges, story time, games and family friendly tours.
Roving musicians Tim ‘King of the Kids’ Jackman and Liz Young delighted children and adults with guitar, kazoo, violin and singing through the gallery, library and foyer spaces at Caboolture Hub.
Two family friendly tours of colourful summer exhibition John Rigby: Monumental Colour were delivered by Caboolture Regional Art Gallery. Tours included games and activities and were enjoyed by children and adults alike.
Local Caboolture artist and crafter Mel Brady inspired students with a creative school book covering activity, painter/teacher David Fenoglio helped budding artists paint colourful houses and an embroidery circle provided quiet crafting for children and parents.
Library staff reported increased visitations on the day and participation in the story time activities while gallery staff and volunteers noted deep engagement with some visitors enjoying dwell times of over two hours.
Division 3 councillor Adam Hain praised Caboolture Hub staff for their efforts.
“The Summer Family Fun Day is a testament to Caboolture Hub’s amazing staff who go above and beyond each week to deliver great events and services for the community,” Cr Hain said.
“They spent tireless hours in preparation for this event and are the heart and soul of Caboolture Hub.
“You would be mad to miss out on the next Family Fun Day in autumn, which I’m sure will be just as good or better.”
The next Family Fun day at Caboolture Hub will be held during Youth Week Celebrations on April 4, 2020.
