The only thing freezing at Moreton Bay Region’s pools are entry prices.
Moreton Bay Regional Council and aquatic facility management contract partner Belgravia Leisure today announced pool entry prices won’t rise, despite the operational costs and revenue losses the company has incurred as a result of COVID-19 restrictions.
Mayor Peter Flannery welcomed the announcement, encouraging residents to make use of the region’s heated pools this winter.
“Swimming is one of the best ways to keep fit and healthy while also observing social distancing,” he said.
“Belgravia Leisure’s decision to not increase pool prices for another 12 months will come at a cost to this business but reflects their commitment to our region and shows an understanding that everyone’s doing it tough at the moment.
“This is the type of certainty we all need right now amongst evolving changes like the recent announcement of the state border closing to NSW.
“Part of this price freeze is possible because of Council’s swift decision earlier this year to cover utility costs for our pool and leisure centres across the region. This meant Moreton Bay pools opened before any other in Queensland.”
Belgravia QLD State Manager Dan Cullen said there wasn’t a second thought when time came to assessing entry prices.
“We’re putting our customers first during these difficult times and appreciate that every dollar counts at the moment,” he said.
“Therefore, I’m proud to say that adult, child, family, disability and senior pool entry prices will remain the same for the next 12 months.
“This means our loyal customers don’t have to pay a cent more to enjoy their local pool.
“We’re also running free learn to swim classes and offering a free 14-day trial to help get people back in the water after being stuck at home during lockdown.
“I want to assure our customers that Belgravia is remaining vigilant about social distancing and strictly following all health directives to prevent any community transmission.”
