Millions approved for park and path upgrades to get locals active

More than $2.462 million in park and pathway upgrades has been approved by Moreton Bay Regional Council at today’s meeting, to encourage locals to get back outdoors and active.

The works will cover 12 parks and upgrade 13 footpaths around the region, Mayor Peter Flannery said the timing is perfect.

“Being active and healthy is so important as we come out of a sedentary lockdown into the middle of winter, and why Council continues to invest in our outdoor spaces and pathways,” he said.

“The great weather in Moreton Bay last weekend felt like it was summer! It was fantastic to see so many residents and visitors enjoying the fresh air at our parks.

“Out with the old and in with the new for a number of playgrounds and fitness equipment, and several footpaths are set to be renewed to make sure you get from A to B safely.

“These upgrades will create a safer area for families and friends to play, exercise and socialise, and better pathways to hit the pavement on the way to school, work or over the weekends.

“This is only part of it, there are more park and path renewals on the horizon as we concentrate on this important infrastructure to keep Moreton Bay moving.”
