The people of Strathpine have spoken, and Council has listened.
The Draft Rob Akers Reserve Master Plan has been released for public consultation today, bringing together all the community feedback received last year.
Acting Mayor Mike Charlton thanked locals for their input and guidance in helping council plan for their needs for the next 15 years.
“Overwhelmingly locals told us that they wanted this Reserve to be a place that provides both habitat for wildlife in Strathpine, as well as providing infrastructure for sporting and recreation needs,” he said.
“I believe the draft plan delivers that for locals and we have to thank those residents and existing site users who provided input on the design.
“This is a fantastic plan for Rob Akers Reserve that will deliver both sporting and passive recreation opportunities which support community demand for more active lifestyle options.”
The draft is now out for a final say and a community consultation day at Rob Akers Reserve, Bells Pocket Road this February 15, between 8.30am-12.30pm.
Division 8 councillor Mick Gillam and council staff will be on hand to help you fill out a survey and answer all your questions.
“Make sure you come down and check it out, because we have plans to build a new home for the Pine Rivers Australian Football Club, upgrade the dog training arena, extra kick about space and much, much more,” Cr Gillam said.
“The council conducted two consultation periods with user groups and the wider community to shape the Draft Rob Akers Reserve Master Plan.
“And the good news is that residents still have a chance to voice their feedback during this next round of consultation before the final plan is drafted.
“It shows the council is putting the residents of Moreton Bay first and we have a strong commitment to creating a better region for everyone.”
“In fact just last week I supported planting of more koala habitat trees in the park as part of our commitment to growing new wildlife habitat and food sources, noting the healthy population of Koalas already on site.”
We encourage residents to also jump online to complete the survey at mbrc.qld.gov.au/consultations before March 4, 2020.
For further information or if you would like a paper copy of the survey mailed to you please contact council’s call centre on 07 3205 0555 or email InfrastructurePlanningMBRC@moretonbay.qld.gov.au.
