Say g’day this Neighbour Day

Imagine having a cuppa face-to-face with a real human being and making a lasting connection – well you can this Neighbour Day!

Moreton Bay Regional Council has been supporting this mantra for years in a bid to ignite a sense of community in the age of social media and digitalism.

Neighbour Day falls on March 29 this year and to celebrate, the council is urging residents to plan their own Neighbour Day events with resources provided on its website.

But if you can’t wait until then to crack out the jam and scones with a new friend, then wander down to the Pine Rivers Art Gallery for the Know your neighbour exhibition between February 7 and April 18.

Artists explore what it means to be a good neighbour through themes such as: friendship, social connection, community and civic responsibility.

Spokesperson for Art Galleries Denise Sims said the exhibition was a fantastic way for people to challenge their ideas about community.

“Knowing your neighbour is a great foundation to build a community here in Moreton Bay,” Cr Sims said.

“The council has supported the concept for a while now through online resources and now this thought-provoking art exhibition.

“But we encourage all residents to make an effort to simply say g’day or have a cuppa with your neighbours, regardless of the day.”

Find more information on the exhibition on the Council website or Neighbour Day website.
