Are you haunted by ghosts of Valentines past?
Well this year Council wants you to reframe and rewrite your story!
If you have an unworn wedding ring, painful present, or miserable mementos from on old flame, see it in a new light at Pine Rivers Heritage Museum.
Acting Mayor Mike Charlton said the keepsakes would be displayed at a free, one-night only pop-up museum on Friday, February 14.
“What a wonderful way to rewrite the story of love and loss,” he said.
“Not only is this an ingenious and quirky idea, it’s the perfect way to memorialise some past baggage and turn it into a positive.
“The exhibit will be curated by you – simply bring along your items on the night and our museum team will have plinths, frames and labels for you to write away your love story.
“What better day than Valentine’s to reconsider the old love-letters, photos, jewellery, or stuffed toys you have left-over from a blistering breakups or Tinder tragedy.
“As well as exploring the exhibit, attendees will enjoy a laugh-out-loud performance by story-teller Lucas Stibbard, a fan-favourite from the Woodford Folk Festival.
“I think this exhibition will also be a poignant reminder that times of celebration, like Valentine’s Day, aren’t uniformly happy for everyone. And that’s a reminder of the importance of love from friends and family.
“Everyone is invited, regardless of your current relationship status, so bring along your mementos and release the weight of your break-up baggage.”
