How can you help forge a gender equal world?

It’s the big question we’re all being asked to reflect on this International Women’s Day (IWD).

The theme for 2020 is #EqualforEqual and Moreton Bay Regional Council has joined the pledge to empower women at all levels, supported through a number of free events taking place across the region in March.

CEO Greg Chemello encouraged everyone, regardless of gender or gender identity, to partake in the celebrations.

“I’m proud to be part of a Council that champions gender equality, celebrates the extraordinary women in our community, and strives towards a positive difference for women,” he said.

“Everyone should get involved and take your partner, children and friends along to one of the free events in Woodford, North Lakes and Caboolture.

“I’m particularly excited to see the powerful panel discussion hosted by legendary newsreader and local Heather Foord with a stellar line-up of Moreton Bay personalities on Friday 6 March at North Lakes Library.

“I also encourage residents to strike the #EqualforEqual pose, share their pledge on social media, and advocate that an equal world is an enabled world.

“International Women’s Day may be Sunday 8 March, however we’re all responsible for our thoughts and actions towards women’s rights every single day.”
