Need some inspo to start your New Year right? Then look no further with 132 different activities on offer with Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Healthy & Active Moreton program.
Mayor Peter Flannery said all the activities were free or low cost to participate and there will be new options to try.
“Hit the gravel running this year with beginner mountain biking at Bunya, enjoy the sunrise with yoga at Scarborough Beach Park or master the art of self-defence at North Lakes or Morayfield,” Mayor Peter Flannery.
“Physical and mental wellbeing will be a big focus of the program this year, with new activities such as forest therapy walks at Mount Glorious, meditation and healing classes in Redcliffe and hydrotherapy at Ferny Hills Aquatic Centre.
“After coronavirus restrictions forced us to go digital in 2020, we’ve decided to continue to offer weekly pilates and Zumba classes online to residents who’d prefer to exercise from the comfort of their home.
“It’s important that everyone in our community has the opportunity to get involved, with wheelchair dancing, wheelchair basketball and deaf yoga available for people with a physical or intellectual disability.
“There’s also ‘come & try days’ with local sports clubs, and nutrition and gardening workshops for those wanting to try something new, or reignite a passion from days of yesteryear.
“So jump online, book a class and make 2021 your best year yet when it comes to your health, fitness and wellbeing.”
The Healthy & Active Moreton program will run from today until 13 June 2021, with more than 90 activities available each week.
