It’s the $7.5 million road upgrade you probably won’t fully appreciate right now but it will greatly change the way Caboolture commutes after coronavirus.
Moreton Bay Regional Mayor Peter Flannery said QM Properties has built a new bridge and road called Central Springs Parade, connecting Smiths Road to Old Gympie Road.
“It’s taken seven months of hard work and has provided 250 local jobs, which is great news right now,” Mayor Flannery said.
“Now the families who call Central Springs estate home will have a quick getaway to the D’Aguilar and Bruce Highways, connecting them to the rest of the region.
“This area is forecast to grow by another 750 families, so I’m pleased to see developer QM Properties working with Council to get ahead of that curve, by delivering the infrastructure that’s needed now.”
Cr Adam Hain (Div 3) said the project would be warmly welcomed by residents and commuters alike, as soon as life goes back to normal.
“Locals have long lamented the traffic pinch point on Smiths Road which is an exit for three schools, but this new road will provide much-needed relief during pick up and drop off times,” Cr Hain said.
“It was previously a dead-end street but being connected to Old Gympie Road will relieve pressure on the already busy King Street.
“I’d like to congratulate Council for having the foresight to negotiate this infrastructure agreement with QM Properties before work had even begun.
“I’m excited by this, because it means Caboolture already has projects in the pipeline ready to go once the coronavirus pandemic is over.
“I certainly hope projects like this will provide some optimism and remind residents to stay #MoretonBayTough as we navigate our way through unusual times.”
