When COVID-19 forced libraries to close their doors, staff took to the great outdoors to continue their popular ‘Baby Rhyme Time’ program – only this time under the shade of the coolabah tree.

A huge hit with the locals, all parents need to bring is their bubs and a blanket to participate in this beautiful learning experience.

Moreton Bay Region Mayor Peter Flannery said the program is now taking to the road to reach more local families

“From Bellmere to Burpengary, we’re bringing our popular Bubs and Blankets ‘Baby Rhyme Time’ to you,” he said.

“It’s no surprise our new Bubs and Blankets is one of our most popular programs this year with everyone craving fresh air after lockdown, especially our families with young children running around the house.

“I’m a passionate advocate of the importance of early learning literacy but I also know how hard it can be to escape the house with young kids, so we’re bringing this program to a suburb near year.

“Simply bring your bub and a blanket and sing-along to all the favourites, and a few new songs too, with rhymes, action songs and finger plays.

“We’ll bring a marquee or find a nice shaded area to keep everyone cool as the weather warms up, as well as providing everyone with a First 5 Forever toolkit that includes a picture book, frog puppet, rhyme time book and CD, and our library guide to the 50 books to read before you are five.”
